REINVENTING FASHION
The Upcycling & Garment Construction program provides a hands-on learning experience focused on sustainable fashion practices and creative garment transformation. Students will engage in deconstruction and reconstruction techniques, learning how to give new life to outdated or unused clothing. Through expert-led demonstrations, guided workshops, and personalized mentorship, participants will refine their ability to manipulate fabric, reconstruct silhouettes, and experiment with sustainable design concepts.
By the end of the program, students will have developed a deep understanding of upcycling techniques and garment repurposing. They will learn to deconstruct existing garments and reconstruct them into fresh, fashion-forward pieces using modern tailoring and draping methods. Participants will explore sustainable design practices, gaining knowledge of materials, sourcing, and ethical production techniques. They will develop advanced stitching and finishing techniques to ensure durability and high-quality craftsmanship. Additionally, students will create a final upcycled piece that showcases their creativity and technical skills, making it a valuable addition to their professional portfolio.
Students will have access to Istituto Marangoni Miami’s fashion design studios, equipped with industry-standard sewing machines, draping mannequins, and professional workstations. Located in the heart of the Miami Design District, the school provides an inspiring atmosphere surrounded by innovative designers and sustainable fashion initiatives. Participants will work with high-quality fabrics and repurposed materials, ensuring they gain real-world experience in sustainable garment construction.
