The Pre-College Courses at The Miami School of Fashion and Design offer a comprehensive approach that integrates theoretical and practical applications, allowing students to profoundly understand the fashion disciplines. Our learning methods encompass interactive lectures showcasing the fundamentals, industry examples, and a practical approach within each fashion course. From fashion illustration and pattern cutting to sewing, photography, and building business plans, our curriculum covers a wide range of essential skills.
At Istituto Marangoni Miami, sustainability is at the forefront of our values. We believe in teaching students to create sustainably, and this skill is integrated into our pre-college courses. Through hands-on projects and discussions, students learn about sustainable practices and how to apply them in the fashion industry.
By the end of each program, whether it is The Fashion Summer Camp, The Portfolio Experience, or The Atelier Experience, students must submit a final project, either a portfolio, an upcycled garment, or a fashion styling and business project, to add to their college application.
The Pre-College Courses at Istituto Marangoni Miami provide high school students with the fundamentals of the world of fashion and design. In the heart of the Design District, our campus at Istituto Marangoni Miami is housed in a state-of-the-art, 7-story facility. Every level is designed to accommodate our student’s diverse requirements and provide an environment that encourages learning and creativity. Among our many tools are theory classrooms, a photography studio equipped with cameras and props, an atelier for hands-on design work, and computer labs with industry-standard software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Clo3D for digital design. Furthermore, a plethora of tools are available to students to aid in their professional and academic growth. Among these is an extensive virtual and physical library filled with research materials and necessary references.
- To apply to our Pre-College Courses, you must be 15 years old or above or still studying in high school. If you meet the requirements, complete your online registration. After this, students must submit a copy of their ID and Resume to complete their student file. Upon completing your registration, more information on enrollment, schedules, and housing options will be sent to you before your class starts.

Our Fashion Pre-College Courses are tailored for high school students aged 15 and above who aspire to pursue a career in fashion and design. At Istituto Marangoni Miami, students can enroll in our three available courses: ‘Fashion Summer Camp,’ ‘My Portfolio Experience,’ and ‘My Atelier Experience.’ Each fashion course provides a unique opportunity to explore various facets of the fashion industry, including design, styling, and business. Istituto Marangoni Miami’s teen fashion courses in design, styling, or business are structured to introduce students to the intricacies of the fashion industry, helping them determine if this is the right career path for them. Through hands-on experience, students can develop the practical skills to excel in college applications and beyond. If you are interested in fashion, specifically in design, styling, or business, our fashion pre-college courses were designed for a seamless yet informative introduction to the fashion industry.
Our Fashion Summer Camp is tailored for high school students aged 15 and up seeking a pre-college program to explore the intricacies of the fashion industry. The in-person 2-week summer program in vibrant Miami, Florida, will cover key facets of fashion: design, styling, and business. Under the guidance of our higher education faculty, students explore fashion trends, hone fashion drawing techniques, delve into textile selection, master digital communication, and refine garment construction skills. They also gain insights into marketing strategies and branding essentials crucial in the fashion landscape while crafting their college fashion portfolio. By delving into these diverse aspects, students gain a solid understanding of each fashion discipline, empowering them to chart their professional paths confidently.
‘My Atelier Experience’ is an enriching eight-week course offered throughout the school year. It takes place every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and empowers students with comprehensive fashion design techniques. Focused on pattern cutting and garment construction, our youth-centric program strongly emphasizes sustainability and upcycling. Explore the art of fabric manipulation, master pattern-cutting, and sewing techniques, and delve into patchwork to craft your unique final piece. This dynamic fashion design class is a gateway to fostering design principles, embracing creative expression, sustainable practices, and mastering product creation.
‘My Portfolio Experience: Fashion Illustration’ is a six to eight-week course, each level, offered during the school year and hosted weekly on Saturdays for 3 hours, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. The program teaches students the skills to prepare their fashion design portfolio. Preparing a creative portfolio before graduating high school is fundamental when applying to college admissions. Through a mentorship approach in class, while students master their fashion illustration techniques, they will receive guidance on curating and presenting their portfolio, effectively showcasing their unique style and creativity.
This fashion Pre-College course will teach you the fundamentals of creating your fashion styling and business portfolio. Students will learn the basics of fashion styling, including color theory, trend analysis, fashion photography, and fundamental concepts of fashion business, such as marketing strategies, social media strategies, and brand management. Through engaging lessons and hands-on projects, you’ll gain valuable insights and practical skills that lay the foundation for your future success in the fashion world.

Students who opt to enroll in undergraduate programs after completing one of our Pre-College Courses are automatically awarded college credit hours and get a partial scholarship.
