About The Library

The library at Istituto Marangoni Miami (IMM) serves as a vital hub for academic and creative exploration and is dedicated to advancing our community’s intellectual and artistic pursuits. Our mission is to support the educational goals of our students and faculty by providing access to a comprehensive collection of resources while preserving our institution’s rich history and legacy. The library’s physical collection includes a diverse range of books from History of Art to Interior Design books, brand management books, and collector’s items catering to the needs of students in fashion, design, and related disciplines. Additionally, we house special collections of rare and fragile items that offer unique insights into the history and evolution of fashion and design.

To complement our physical collections, we offer a robust selection of digital resources that ensure our students can access the latest information and industry trends. Our digital library includes subscriptions to key databases such as Business of Fashion, WGSN, ProQuest, and Gale, allowing students to access a wealth of information from anywhere at any time. Whether you are conducting research, seeking inspiration, or working on a class project, the IMM library is equipped to support your academic and creative journey.

Meet Our Librarian

Carrie Sieh, our dedicated librarian, joined the Istituto Marangoni Miami team in 2023, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep passion for both art and education. Before coming to IMM, Carrie held positions at prestigious institutions including the University of Miami, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. In addition to her work as a librarian, Carrie has also taught at San Francisco’s School of the Arts, where she shared her expertise in visual arts with aspiring young artists.

Carrie is not only an experienced librarian but also an accomplished visual artist in her own right. Her artistic practice includes needlework, experimental textiles, and garment construction, which she incorporates into her workshops and educational sessions at IMM. Her commitment to fostering creativity and providing personalized support makes her an invaluable resource for our students. Carrie is available to assist with research inquiries, provide guidance on library resources, and lead special-topics workshops designed to enhance the academic experience. She can be reached at c.sieh@immiami.com for any library-related queries or to schedule a one-on-one consultation.

Virtual Library Access

In addition to our physical resources, Istituto Marangoni Miami offers a comprehensive virtual library through the LIRN platform, ensuring that students have uninterrupted access to a vast array of digital resources, research databases, and academic journals. The LIRN platform is designed to support remote learning and research, allowing students to conduct in-depth studies, access scholarly articles, and gather information from reputable sources without needing to visit the campus. This virtual library extends the reach of our academic support, making it easier for students to complete assignments, develop projects, and stay informed about the latest developments in their fields of study.

The LIRN platform is regularly updated with new content, ensuring that students have access to the most current information available. Whether you are working on a research paper, exploring industry trends, or seeking inspiration for a design project, the virtual library provides all the tools you need to succeed in your studies. Our library staff is also available to provide guidance on how to navigate and make the most of these digital resources, ensuring that all students can fully leverage the benefits of our virtual library.
